Our Story

In Hungary and the European Union, during the industrial use of rapeseed (for food production and the production of biofuels), rapeseed cake (the residue formed after the extraction of rapeseed oil during pressing, which mainly contains protein and oil) and rapeseed meal (the coarse-grained, low-oil content product remaining after extraction oil, which mainly contains protein) are produced as by-products.

Rapeseed cake and rapeseed meal are used for animal feeding due to their high protein and energy content.

Considering that rapeseed cultivation and industrial usage are significant in Hungary, Romania, and Ukraine, rapeseed products are readily available at favorable prices for livestock breeders.

However, it is important to note that rapeseed contains certain antinutritive compounds, such as glucosinolates, which in large quantities can have negative effects on animal health.

Therefore, rapeseed meal or rapeseed cake formed as a by-product of vegetable oil-based biodiesel production or edible oil production, without treatment, can only be mixed in limited quantities (at a ratio of 5-8%) into livestock feed due to the harmful physiological effects of its antinutritive components.

ROP Ltd. has developed a feed supplement capable of neutralizing the negative physiological effects caused by components found in rapeseed products in animal feeding.

Mixing PEELKO into feed can be done easily and effectively in feed mixing plants.
